Water Island is a beautiful residential island, as the smallest of the four U.S. Virgin Islands at just over 490 acres. Water Island is also the youngest US Virgin Island, having been transferred to the territory less than 20 years ago. It enjoys a population of less than 200 people, many of whom choose to travel by golf cart around their small island instead of by car. For necessities, simply hop on the 9 minute ferry over to St. Thomas.

When it comes to Water Island Real Estate, options range from from high end houses to small cottages. Private homes populate the island’s hillsides in the wonderfully picturesque areas known called Flamingo Point, Sprat Bay and Carolina Point.  Rents start around $1500 per week and up depending on the house and amenities.

Things to Do on Water Island

There are a number of ways to enjoy yourself on Water Island. You can spend a relaxing day on the beach, kayaking in crystal clear waters or, exploring the shoreline at Limestone. Nature enthusiasts can hike around the island, explore the remains of military fortifications or even take a bike tour. Perhaps a boating or fishing excursion is more your style. For something more laid back, there’s always, lunch and drinks at Honeymoon Bay or joining residents for movie night on the beach.
